Caring for Rock Garden Ceramics

Each Rock Garden piece is made to last, designed for daily use in restaurants, cafés, and homes.

Our ceramics are durable and high-fired, but like all handmade work, they’ll benefit from a little care to keep them at their best.

For Restaurants & Café

Our stoneware is industrial dishwasher safe and built to handle the demands of service.

However, as with all ceramics, small chips or breakages can occur over time, usually from handling rather than washing.

To help your collection last:

  • Avoid knocking or stacking pieces roughly during service or washing.

  • Stack flat plates carefully (heaviest on the bottom) and avoid mixing different shapes.

  • When moving larger items, lift rather than slide to prevent edge wear.

  • If your ware is stored on metal shelves, consider a soft liner to reduce friction.

Even in the busiest kitchens, these small habits will help your ceramics stay in service for years.

General Care

Cleaning

All Rock Garden ceramics are dishwasher safe. For gentler cleaning, use warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive pads that could dull the surface over time.

Drying

Allow pieces to air dry or pat dry with a soft towel before stacking.

Temperature Changes

To protect from thermal shock, avoid moving pieces directly from cold to hot environments — for example, fridge to oven. Our stoneware is oven-safe, but gradual heating is best.

Storage & Stacking

If stacking, place a soft cloth or felt pad between pieces to avoid surface marks — particularly for matte glazes or textured finishes.

Food Safety

All of our ceramics are food-safe, lead-free, and designed for everyday use. Glazes are durable and resistant to staining from food or drink.

In Short-

Ceramics are strong, but they’re still a fragile material.

Handled with care, your Rock Garden pieces will develop a long life and a quiet patina that tells their story, from the potter’s wheel to your table.
