Blacksmith

We're delighted to showcase the work of Carl Camp, a blacksmith based in Fulford, York. From his forge at Falcon Forge, Carl continues the centuries-old tradition of blacksmithing, producing knives that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Carl works with pattern-welded Damascus steel, an ancient technique revived in modern times. Layer upon layer of carbon steel is fire-welded, twisted, and re-stacked to reveal organic, one-of-a-kind patterns in the blade. Each knife is forged, ground, and heat-treated entirely by hand - a process that can take upwards of 20 hours. Handles are finished with natural, ethically sourced materials such as timber or antler, ensuring every piece is unique.
